AMERICAN PIE COUNCIL
The
Pie Maven is a proud member of the American Pie Council. The
American Pie Council is an organization dedicated to preserving our pie
heritage and promoting the love of pies. The American Pie Council
offers several membership levels, ranging from professional bakers to
everyday lovers of pie.
The American Pie Council created
National Pie Day, dedicating
January
23rd to the celebration of pie.
The American Pie Council sponsors annual events, such as the National
Pie Championships and the Great American Pie Festival. Members receive
benefits such as pie recipes, coupons, and the quarterly newsletter,
Pie
Times.
The National Pie Championships is a 4-day event (co-sponsored by Crisco)
where American and Canadian bakers (professional, amateur, and junior)
have been competing for titles in various categories since 1995. The
National Pie Championships are held in April each year in
Kissimmee, FL. Best of Show winners receive $5,000 and bragging
rights. Applications for entrants and judges can be found on the
American Pie Council site.

The 2009 Great American Pie Festival coincides with the National Pie
Championships, and will be held April 24-26, 2009, in Kissimmee, FL.
The festivities include games, crafts, demonstrations, never-ending pie
buffet, and live entertainment.
